Gaston Bouatchidze

Gaston Bouatchidzé was born on October 21, 1935 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1958, he graduated from Lviv University, Ukraine, where he specialized in French language and literature. From 1960 to 1990, he was a professor of French literature at Tbilisi State University, while from 1991 to 2001, he was an associate professor of comparative literary studies at the University of Nantes. He has translated Georgian literature into French and vice versa. The main subject of his research is the history of Franco-Georgian literary contacts. He was the initiator of sisterly ties between the cities of Nantes and Tbilisi,
