Zurab Karumidze

Fiction Writer, Culturologist

Zurab Karumidze was born in 1957 in Tbilisi. He graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the faculty of Western European languages and literature with the major in English literature. In 1984, he defended a dissertation on the topic “The Phenomenon of Wit in John Don’s Poetry”. He published his first short story in the newspaper “literature da skhva” (Literature and Other) in 1990. In 1995, he published his prosaic poem “Mad Hatter” in literary anthology “Akhali Droeba”. He was a co-editor of “Akhali Droeba” and English language journals Georgia/Caucasus Profile and Caucasus Context. He collaborates with Washington University at Saint Louis (USA) and radio 104.3.
