Tamta Melashvili was born in 1979 in Ambrolauri. After completing her secondary education she moved to the capital, Tbilisi. She started studying at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the faculty of international relations. However, she broke off her studies and spent one year in Germany and then returned to Georgia. In 2008 Tamta completed a degree in gender studies at the Central European University in Budapest. She has been writing since childhood. Her first work appeared on web-portal www.literatura.ge. In 2006 she won the competition of the above mentioned portal and her short story appeared in a collection. Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House published the same short story in the anthology “Top 15”. In 2008 her one more short story was included in a joint collection published by Lib.ge and “Siesta”. In 2009 Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House published the same short story in the anthology “Top 15”.
