Rezo Cheishvili

Fiction Writer, Dramatist

Rezo Cheishvili was born on April 24, 1933 in Kutaisi. In 1954, he entered Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the faculty of philology (Georgian language and literature). He graduated from the university in 1958. During his student days, he published his first stories in the anthology “Pirveli Skhivi” (First Ray) and journal “Tsiskari” (Matins). From 1961 to 1992, he worked as an editor, member of a creative association and one of the directors at the film studio “Georgian Film”. Simultaneously, he worked at journal “Tsiskari” (Matins), “Saunje” (Treasure). In 1987 he was an editor-in-chief of the anthology “Gantiadi” (Dawn) in Kutaisi.
