Irma Shiolashvili

Poet, Translator

Irma Shiolashvili was born on March 29, 1974 in the region of Dedoplistskaro. In 1996, she graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the faculty of journalism. She did her doctoral studies at Shota Rustaveli University and Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn at the department of comparative literary studies. In 2005, she defended a dissertation on the topic: “Georgian and German Political Lyrics after World War II”.

Since 1999, Irma Shiolashvili has been living in Bonn, Germany and hosts a programme at Bonn regional radio station (Bonn/Rhein-Seig) about Georgian culture. She is a member of European Writers’ Association “Kolge”.
