Poet, Literary Critic
Paata Shamugia was born in 1983 in Abkhazia. He currently lives in Tbilisi. He graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the faculty of philology. From 2007 he has worked in different publishing houses, has published verses in periodical editions and written critical essays. Paata Shamugia became known to the wide public by his scandal book “Antitkaosani”. The book provoked criticism because it showed so-called Georgian Bible – The Man in the Panther’s Skin from a different angle. His second poetic collection “Advantage”, unlike his previous collection, did not provoke any criticism or cause a stir. On the opposite, the book received positive reviews from critics and he was considered a distinguished face in Georgian poetry.
